A First Glance of Port Dickson Golf & Country Club
Welcome back to Chill Golf Guys! If you’ve been following our Instagram, you know Kayden and I are on a mission to explore every golf course in Malaysia until one of us finally hits a Hole in One.
For Episode 1 of our journey, we packed our bags and headed south to the coastal town of Port Dickson. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a forgiving fairway or a seasoned pro hunting for a cheap weekday game, this review is for you. We spent the day at Port Dickson Golf & Country Club (PDGCC) to see if this old-school track still holds up in 2026.
How to get to Port Dickson Golf & Country Club
Google Map Image of Port Dickson Golf & Country Club
Port Dickson Golf & Country Club is located about 1 hour and 20 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur, depending on how heavy your foot is on the pedal. It’s situated at the 5½ mile mark of Jalan Pantai, making it very easy to find once you exit the Seremban-PD highway.
While it feels a bit far for a quick morning round, the drive is actually quite therapeutic once you get off the main highway and start seeing the palm trees. If you’re planning a weekend trip, it’s only a 10-minute drive from major resorts like Lexis Hibiscus, so it’s a perfect “stay and play” destination.
Fun fact, the golf course is situated right beside Port Dickson Hospital and a military base (IJED), that is a load of security, safety, and health! The nearest public beach is also a breeze walk away (2km from the club house) and (500m from the entrance).

First Impressions at PDGCC
When you turn in from the entrance of PDGCC, you will notice two things immediately: there is a fairway on the left, and there is a fairway on the right. That’s right! If someone hooks the ball badly, your car will be in a whole lots of pain. There are no nettings to block of stray balls, only some trees. So, I will recommend you to not stay and admire the view, just keep driving down the road, all the way to the club house (the safe zone).
Parking and Lobby
Now, once you have arrived, you will notice that there is ample of parking space (It could be just us being lucky as it was ramadhan period).
Meanwhile, the club doesn’t feel “snobbish” like some of the elite private clubs in KL. It’s a public course with a very grounded, local vibe. The lobby is open-air and breezy—perfect for that early morning check-in. The lobby staffs were also incredibly welcoming! Head to the bag drop zone at the front of the lobby to drop of your bags. If I am not mistaken, you can’t drive the buggy to your car to retrieve your golf bags.
Driving Range and Chipping Green
If you like to warm up before you lose your first ball, there is an on-site driving range and a putting/chipping green. They aren’t the fanciest in the country, but they get the job done. The putting green is especially important here because, as I found out, the greens at PDGCC have some secret “surprises” that you’ll want to feel out before the first hole.
Pro Shop and Restaurant
Forgot your balls or gloves? The Pro Shop is right there. It’s stocked with the essentials (though don’t expect a massive selection of high-end apparel). The chinese uncle manning the pro shop is also super friendly! You can choose from a variety of used golf balls that are still in good condition for about RM15-RM20 per bag! Talk to the uncle a little bit more, and he will open up his stash of good condition Titleist Pro V1s.
Unfortunately, as we were visiting Port Dickson GCC during the ramadhan period on 14/3/2026, we did not get to experience their food or restaurant. Don’t get me wrong! They do have a nice restaurant, but at the time of visit, it was not open.
2026 Changing Room Condition in Port Dickson GCC
Let’s be honest: this is where PDGCC shows its age. The locker rooms and toilets are definitely on the “older side.” If you are expecting a 5-star spa experience, you might be disappointed.
The “Chill Golf Guys” Locker Room Checklist:
- Lockers: Key locks.
- Old school, secure, and will not face any issue even if there is power outage. However, you might wanna keep your keys close. The changing room PIC might go missing from time-to-time and if you are unlucky, help could be a long way.
- Hairdryer: None.
- I actually had to get creative to dry my hair after my post-round shower (using the hand dryer). If you have long hair or a high-maintenance style, bring your own or be prepared for the “wind-dry” method.
- Shower Room Hooks: 3 hooks!
- This sounds like a small detail, but having three hooks to hang your towel, clean clothes, and golf kit while showering is a luxury I didn’t know I needed.
- Amenities:
- Basic shampoo are provided, but they are standard “budget hotel” quality.
- Towels: Yup!
- So far, I haven’t come across any golf course that requires you to bring your own towel.
- Plastic Bags: Yup!
- They have it, right at the counter where you register to collect your locker keys and towels. However, let’s not be greedy okay? Take one, or better yet, take none. We should care for the environment more haha!
Port Dickson Golf Course Condition
Hole 18 Par 4 at PDGCC
Now, for the part that actually matters: the grass. Despite the aging clubhouse, we were surprised by how well-maintained the course was.
Fairway Condition
The fairways are wide and surprisingly lush. This is a massive win for beginners. A big fairway means your margin for error increases dramatically! Unless you are really shanking your balls left, and right, you will most likely be able to get to the fairway. Even if you do slice or hook the ball by accident, there’s still a 40% chance you’ll find it in the neighboring fairway or in the rough. It’s very forgiving, and there isn’t much elevation change, so you aren’t constantly hitting off awkward side-hill lies.
Rough Condition
The roughs were also quite forgiving compared to many other golf courses that I played. Despite hitting my ball to the roughs, I managed to salvage quite a few of them. The roughs were mostly trees and long grasses, so it wasn’t too bad. However, it will be hard for you to take the hero shot straight to the fairway. Speaking from personal experience, it is better to do a lay-up. Don’t be greedy! Unless you are a single digit handicapper!
Hazards and Bunkers
Steep green on hole 8 PDGCC
One of the best things about PDGCC for high-handicappers? Not a lot of bunkers. You won’t find yourself trapped in deep sand pits every two minutes. There are some water hazards, but they are generally placed in a way that doesn’t feel unfair. I, for one, did not hit my balls into any water hazards (unlike Kayden). In terms of bunkers, they were also quite easy to get out of, so I wouldn’t stress about it.
Green Conditions
This is where the challenge lies. The greens were fast and featured some tricky elevations. I ended up 3-putting almost 14 holes! If your putting game isn’t sharp, this course will humble you very quickly. Fun fact, Kayden did 8-putts on hole 18 due to the steep elevations of the greens!
Tee Boxes and Signage
The tee boxes were level and well-kept. What really stood out was the signage. The boards around the course looked brand new and were very well-placed. You never feel lost looking for the next hole, which is a common problem at older courses.
Buggy and Caddy Situation in PDGCC
Is Port Dickson Golf & Country Club Buggy on Course?
Yes! PDGCC allows buggies on the course (weather permitting). This is a huge “chill” factor. You can drive right up to your ball, hit it, and keep moving. No long walks across the fairway in the Malaysian humidity. One thing to note. Although it is buggy on course, the buggy entrance to the course is super tight. If you can’t drive well, or you are already 4 bottles of beer into the course, it might be a better option to let the sober golfer drive.
Buggy Condition and Track
The buggies themselves are a bit on the older side—they might squeak a little—but they are functional. The buggy track, however, was in pristine condition. It was honestly smoother than most of the roads in KL! Even the sign boards were in better condition than most sign boards in KL. We were genuinely surprised by it.
Is there a Caddy at Port Dickson Golf & Country Club?
Unfortunately, No caddies. This is a “DIY” course. You’ll be responsible for reading your own lines, cleaning your own clubs, and finding your own balls. For us at Chill Golf Guys, we prefer this—it keeps the cost down and the vibe casual.
Course History and Layout
PDGCC was built in 1992 and designed by architect Szeto Kok Yin. It’s a Par 72 course that stretches about 5,900 meters.
- Front 9 (Rusa 1): Slightly more undulating and cut through a bit more forest.
- Back 9 (Rusa 2): Flatter and more open, where you can really feel the breeze from the Straits of Malacca.
The layout consists of 4 Par 5s, 10 Par 4s, and 4 Par 3s. It’s a comfortable length—long enough to feel like a “real” course, but short enough that I actually managed to get a Par! (Huge win for me).
*I will try to insert the golf course’s layout image as soon as possible!
PDGCC Rates in 2026
This is the biggest selling point. We booked via the Deemples App and paid only RM65 for a weekday round.
- Weekday: ~RM65 – RM70
- Weekend: ~RM80 – RM100
For an 18-hole course that is this well-maintained, that price is essentially a steal. You’re getting a full day of golf for less than the price of a fancy brunch in Bangsar.
However, it has come to my attention that the pricing was in fact a ramadhan promo price. According to their new price list on Deemples, it is now:
- Weekday: ~RM81.40
- Weekend: ~RM92.20
The latest update of Port Dickson Golf Course’s pricing is on 21/03/2026.
Things We Liked vs. Things We Didn’t (PDGCC 2026 Edition)
What We Loved:
- Beginner Friendliness: Wide fairways and few hazards make it a low-stress round.
- Price: Hard to beat RM65 for 18 holes.
- The Vibe: Coastal breeze, beautiful coconut trees, and a very relaxed atmosphere.
- Buggy Track: Best buggy track we’ve seen in a while.
What Could Be Better:
- Locker Rooms: Needs a serious facelift.
- Buggy Condition: A high quality buggy track deserves a high quality buggy! Since the road is as smooth as Sepang International Circuit, it only makes sense to be driving a Porsche on it right?
- Green Difficulty: If you’re a beginner, the fast greens can be a bit punishing.
Personal Thoughts and Ratings
Safe to say, Port Dickson Golf & Country Club is easily in my top 5 favorite courses in Malaysia purely for the value-to-fun ratio. It’s not perfect, but it’s “chill.”
Value for Money – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Course Condition – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Facilities – ⭐⭐✨ (2.5/5)
Beginner Friendliness – ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Chance for a Hole-in-One – 🤏 (0.5/5 – because we suck)
How to Book Port Dickson Golf & Country Club (The Easy Way)
We highly recommend booking via the Deemples App. It’s the easiest way to find tee times in Malaysia without having to call the club and hope someone picks up the phone.
- Download Deemples on your phone.
- Search for “Port Dickson Golf & Country Club.”
- Pick your date and time.
- Pay via the app to secure your slot.
- Show up, tell them your name, and tee off!
Final Verdict
Is it worth the 1-hour drive from KL? Absolutely. Even with the older facilities, the quality of the course and the “beginner-friendly” layout make it a fantastic day out.
